Homemade Christmas Challenge

This year after being inspired by
my wonderfully talented friend,
I decided to take up the challenge
of only giving handmade gifts.
I gotta say I am very surprised and impressed by how much fun I had doing it and how it stretched my creativity.

My age range was huge!  From 3 to 87,
it was an interesting project
to say the least.
I ended up doing baskets for each family and filled them with goodies. Including Boo Boo Bears, eye masks, warming pillows, my new juggling sets, jams, jellies, almond bark and even a roll up tool kit!

I challenge you to see if you can do it too!  Let's not get caught up in the commercial craziness of the Christmas rush.

Eye Masks

These pretty masks
can be kept
in the freezer until ready to use.  Filled with  100% natural grains and infused with essential peppermint oil, they naturally form  to your contours and provide soothing
relief from headaches,
eye strain, tension or
simply just enjoy
for the sake of it.
An added bonus of these eye masks is their ability to become warming pillows when heated in the microwave.

Hot or cold, the are pretty and useful.

Interesting facts:
  • Nausea and Headache: Peppermint oil is a good home remedy for nausea and headache. Applying peppermint oil in diluted form on the forehead is known to remove headache.
  • Stress: Like most other essential oils, peppermint is able to provide relief from stress, depression and mental exhaustion due to its refreshing nature. It is also effective against anxiety and restlessness.
Order yours today!  Only $6.00 or 2 for $10.
More fabric choices to come :)

The Boo Boo Bear

Okay so here's how it started....

I got and made a pattern for a bear backpack... I sorta loved it, sorta didn't.  I loved the bear part but not the straps, the closure, or the way when empty the poor thing looked so deflated.  My daughter LOVED her backpack, so much so that she wanted to sleep with it, but of course with the straps this was a no go.

To the drawing board I went...

I added stuffing, removed the straps, changed the closure, re-worked the design, and thought how awesome it would be to have it as a soothing bear for all of our kids bumps and bruises or aches and pains.

Which brought about....  The Boo Boo Bear

I wanted parents to have to
ability to add an ice pack or
warming pillow to comfort their
child, whatever their need.

The bears all come with a coordinating warming pillow made out of 100% natural grains and infused with lavender oil to help soothe (and hopefully send to sleep) your little one.

Check out my upcoming blogs for what's available and prices.

PS  I am re-working the backpack - let me know if you are interested :)
